Manage Folders for Comparisons and Downloads
MatWeb uses the term
Folders
for the collection of data sheets that you select for side-by-side comparisons and exports into FEA software formats.
You must be
registered
and
logged in
with MatWeb to use Folders. Please see the screenshots below for a sneak peek at what you are missing.
Registered
users of MatWeb also have access to MatWeb's Comparison Feature, which allows users to view and compare several materials side by side, as well as export those materials to external files.
Premium
users are able to
Export
materials from the Folder Detail Screen, which displays all materials within a folder, and allows the user to customize them for use in various FEA software programs such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, ALGOR, and COMSOL Multiphysics.
Instructions:
This page provides an overview listing of all of your Folders containing MatWeb Materials. From this page, you are able to perform the following actions:
Edit Folder Name:
You may change any Folder name listed above by editing the text contained within the Folder name text boxes. Click the "Save Changes" button to save the new Folder name(s).
Add New Folder:
You may add a new (empty) Folder to your list, up to a maximum limit of 10 Folders. Simply enter a name for the Folder in the last text box above, and click the "Save Changes" button.
Material Count:
The numbers in the Materials column above represent the number of Materials you have in each Folder, along with the maximum number of Materials you can have per Folder.
(Example: 3/20 means that you have 3 Materials in a Folder that can contain up to 20.)
Compare Materials:
You can compare the Materials in your Folder by selecting the "Compare" option from the Viewing Mode drop-down list, and clicking the "GO" button. This will take you to a summary page that lists all of the Materials in your Folder, along with the ability to delete them individually. From here you may then continue on to the Comparison page.
View Materials in "???" Mode:
You can view and export the Materials in your Folder using various "Modes", such as SolidWorks, ALGOR, etc. Once you have selected a Mode, you will be taken to a summary page that lists all of the Materials in your Folder, along with the ability to delete them individually. From here you may then export those Materials to the appropriate file format. Once you have saved the exported file to your PC, you can open it with your own software (SolidWorks, ALGOR, etc.)
Folder Comment:
The text listed in the Folder Comment column can be modified once you have selected a Viewing Mode.
Delete a Folder:
You may delete a Folder by clicking on the Delete icon
. You will then be asked to confirm the deletion in a pop-up window. Click "OK" to permanently delete the Folder, or "Cancel" if you have changed your mind.
View Folder Usage:
The counter at the bottom of the display table lists how many Folders you currently have, as well as how many Folders you are allowed to have.
(Example: 4 of 10 means that you are using 4 Folders out of a possible limit of 10.)
